Unfortunately, large amounts of people make resolutions and fail them continuously YEAR after YEAR.
Well, it doesn’t have to be that way because we have many mentors in life, including JESUS 😀, and other people like the presidents, philosophers, etc.
So, let’s start off with the true teacher of life, God Himself, Jesus Christ 🙂 The first question is… Do you plan to include Jesus through it all? If you do, then please say a quick prayer with me:
“Jesus Christ, you see that in 2020, I want to fulfill Your will and also my New Year’s Resolution. Please help me construct the resolution under Your supervision and succeed in it with Your guidance. Amen!”
And to freshen up your faith, here’s a Bible verse!
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
Matthew 7:7
Now let’s start! Your resolution should include these 4 aspects: spirituality, health, finances, and relationships. Let’s dissect each one and see if it helps:
SPIRITUALITY: This aspect is where you religion, Christianity, is the spotlight. Some questions to help are: how do I serve God? Do I pray and read the Bible daily? Do others see Jesus in me? Do I see Jesus in me?
From these questions and others, try constructing an “I will…” statement. For ex: “I will read the Bible twice this year.” Or “I will stop cussing to be more like Jesus.” Make 1-3 of these statements, but make them REALISTIC! If your Bible is dusty and untouched, start off with 1-3 chapters a day. If you only pray in church, try praying before bedtime.
HEALTH: Don’t repeat last years mistake and write “chiseled abs” ‘cuz failure has a domino effect until you do it right: Again, ask yourself some questions: “What do I want to look like?” Or “Are chiseled abs realistic for this year?” Etc. Once you find some topics that you want to zero in on, like weightloss, write 1-3 statements looking like “I’m going to slowly drop junk food, and substitute with produce.” Or “I’m going to jog twice a week.” Start off slowly….
FINANCES and RELATIONSHIPS: Rinse and repeat the above aspects: Ask some questions, zero in, and write 1-3 realistic statements for each aspect.
Next step would be PLANNING. Here, you write a process of HOW to succeed. Turn on some alarms for morning jogs, ask spouse/sibling/friend to be an accountability partner for diet, etc.
God bless and hope you reach your goals!!!
